Gastronomy in Mallorca

Traditional Mallorcan cuisine is based on natural produce from the orchard, mainly from pork meat and, of course, the excellent product of its coastl, fish and seafood. It is therefore fully Mediterranean cuisine that can be enjoyed in the dining rooms and halls of the island, and in the proudly named "Celler" traditional restaurants of Mallorca.

Each area of Mallorca has its autochthonous dishes, but usually the most typical dishes in Mallorcan cuisine can be divided into sweet and salty dishes. As for desserts, there are many, but the most popular ones are "ensaimadas", "robioles", "enfornats", "crespells" and "cocarrois".

With regard to salty dishes, we also find many typical dishes such as arròs brut, tumbet, pamboli, the popular coca de trampó bakes, sopes mallorquines, roast meats and meat pies called “empanadas” (best known are pork and lamb), Mallorcan snails, frit mallorquí a must-try meat and vegetable fry-up, and of course, the Mallorcan sobrassada, a spreadable, chorizo-like cured sausage.

This is a wide gastronomic range that gathers sea and mountain and that will make you remember the island not only for its beaches and its villages, but for the good cuisine.
