Cala Anguila

Some 15 minutes from Cales de Mallorca we find the fantastic beach of Cala Anguila, an inlet with fine golden sand, the result of thousands of years of seashell fragments and fossils concentrating here due to erosion and the area’s current. This beach is of great tourist appeal and boasts a blue flag, categorising it as one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. The cala’s surrounding coast-line is relatively level with the sea and the outlet of a stream-bed.

With its marvellous combination of favourable traits, hotels and construction companies have been drawn to this region of the island, such that we find a range of buildings such as hotels, homes and gardens around the beach, blended with the vegetaion, all of which results in medium-high frequentation. Among the services we find are lavatories, free parking, lifeguards and handrailings for the less able, restaurants and a beach-bar ideal for enjoying an ice-cream or drink. Also, anchoring is allowed at this beach since the water’s depth ranges from four to seven metres. Nonetheless, this is only permitted in the absence of strong winds, which have in the past caused great damage to vessels. Another activity allowed in this inlet is fishing, a favourite passtime of the region’s local residents’.

Access to this beach is simple, since the road from Cales de Mallorca to Porto Cristo is simple and features adequate signage. Vehicles may be parked throughout the residential estate’s streets and one need then only walk down steps to the sand.
