About Calas

ManacorCalas de Mallorca is situated at the southeast area of the municipality of Manacor. This municipality has become the most important place on the east side of the island, adquiring its position as the second most important zone in Mallorca, where many changes have gone through in the last few decades.

Manacor has always been known as the City of Furniture, but it is also known for having one of the biggest hospitals in the island and a big variety of sports facilities, from which has emerged one of the most important figures in the history of tennis, Rafa Nadal. It also has one of the largest Gothic cathedrals on the island.

Calas de Mallorca, declared a tourist town, was born in the ’60s with the demand of the tourism boom in Spain and the urban planning of a larger project that was never performed in its entirety. From there arose a village that stretches along the coast from Cala Antena beach to Cala Domingos.

This picturesque spot, situated in a privileged area east of the island, is surrounded by a rural area and the Mediterranean Sea, which you can see from a spectacular promenade built atop the cliffs.

The small town is defined by the variety of buildings, in which you can see the hotels that have, in most cases, a height of seven or eight stories that make the tourists enjoy privileged views with charming contrast between mountains and sea. There are also many apartments, villas and bungalows where the locals live.

Shopping malls are in the central part of town, being close from anywhere and creating an area dominated by the commercial aspect involved a touristic town.

The beaches of Calas de Mallorca have always enjoyed a special admiration for his uncommon landscape, its white sand and turquoise waters.
