Summer solstice

The summer solstice, also known in Mallorca as the Night of San Juan, the Night of the fire and Night of the witches happens on the night of the 23rd to the 24th of june.

This night, while being the shortest of the year turns out to be one of the most special. During this night people gather on the beaches and lit some campfires to party, dance around, talk or just sit there and stare at the stars of a magical moment. It is unclear what this celebration really means of what are its origins, but it is thought to be from old pagan culture.
